After The Home Going

Last week, my family prepared for Joe L.'s home going celebration. For believers, death is not the end. It is a continuation of our journey. It is the time that we say goodbye to this life and go to meet our maker. Although we have been taught this message through the years, it was still hard to look at the coffin which carried the body of my brother. The tears flowed and my heart sanked. Questions surfaced, answers came, and there was silence. My journey for now continues until my Father saids, come on home Jennie. Last week, we all made a commitment to stay in touch. My family also commented that they were concerned about me being here alone in Dallas. Promises were made that I would not be alone through these years. This time, I believe that we will honor these promises.

In Memory of Joe L. Pollard

Rest in peace my dear brother. You have fought a long and hard work.  You have lived your family  and have served your country through six wars.  I will not forget your words of wisdom to me when I was just a child.  There are two things that I have carried with me for at least 50 years. One, there are two types of people in the world...those that mess up and those who spend their lives cleaning up the mess. Don't spend your life cleaning up the mess. Well dear brother, I have done just that...To honor the memory of your life, I will leave some of the mess. Two, God did not send us to planet earth just to occupy space.  My dear brother, I will continue to leave life to its fullest and not occupy space. Love you...your sister,  Jennie V.
