Friends

When Michael Jackson passed away in June, I spent days remembering all that he has given us. Many people spoke of his many talents and others still just talk. This week, I lost a dear friend, Sharon Glenn. Her death came at a time when we are losing so many great Americans. Sharon may not be known by the media or Hollywood. She is know by her family and friends as one classy lady. Sharon...I will miss you. Thanks for telling me how important it is to just accept that sunshine that comes into my life each day. Far too many nights, I was still at work at 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. If I pass away tomorrow, I don't want my life to be in vain. Sharon is now in a better place and her pain is gone. I love you Sharon. Thanks for the memories and the talks. God will look after your family.

Why are you a full time student at this age?

What was I thinking? I have not been a full time student in amost 20 years. This semester, I am a full time graduate student and right now I am two weeks behind on my assignments. The major problem or excuse is work. When I arrive home around 6:30 p.m., have dinner and wind down, I almost too tired to study. To date, I have only spent one hour per night studying. I must continue and my brain will engage.

School for Older Adults

After 16 years of delaying a dream to continue post graduates studies, I am a full time student for the first time in over a decade. It is taking days for my brain to kick from work to learning. Is it worth it? What will I gain by giving up weekends and two hours of television per day? What will I gain from adding $25,000 to my credit and tuition. Well!! I can only say that this is a dream deferred. I will gain zero if I don't complete this degree. Twenty years ago, it was very easy for me to block of work and study. Today, I have the problems of work and the consequences of not completing task that cloud my mind. My goal as an older adult is to be kind and keeping pursing this goal. The more I study, the mnore the brain will engage and wake up.
