I love Apple products and the man behind the passion. My first Mac was introduced to me in a graduate computer class in the early 90's. Later I persuaded an employer to support the Mac at at work, but I failed and succeed in this goal. I was allowed to use the Mac under the conditions that I kept it running. This challenge moved me forth and provided a sense of accomplishment.
When I purchased my first iPad this year, followed by the iPad2 a few months later, I could not keep the excitement of the possibilities of this product to myself. This past spring employees at Cedar Valley College were pushed, persuaded, and pushed some more just to consider the impact the iPad2 could have on education. One Vet Tech faculty lead the way by piloting the use of iPad2 for supplementing instruction. Later Math faculty were persuaded to join the pilot. To make a long story short, more and more faculty from various disciplines have come on board.
Thank you Steve Jobs for once again making an impact on education with an Apple products. May your vision continue to live.
This year's vacation plans were changed at the last minute due to unforeseen pressures from work. As the flow of life unfolded, it appears that I simply needed rest and relaxation. After four days away from the office, I finally feel human. My attachments to email, phone calls, meetings are beginning to fade. The last days of my vacation, I don't email, phone anyone or attend meeting. The pressures of these activities are only memories. I am simply relaxing.
What took me so long? Why do I fill every minute with my day with meetings, emails, and phone calls. Even on vacation, it was extremely difficult to relax on day one, day two and even day three. As a matter of fact, I spent the first day of my vacation reading and answering 500 emails. How sad!! How did I fall into this state? When did work become such an electronic burden?
