Bill Paying

Once a month, I crawled up on the bed and start paying bills on line. The convenience is acceptable...the payout is not. The good news is that I have the income these days to pay out.

Trips

Today I am returning to Dallas from a SACS conference in Tampa, Florida. The trip overall was very successful. My main concern now is getting home to check on Boo and Katy. Published with Blogger-droid v1.4.8

Haters

Haters...When did this dark term become vogue. A few weeks ago, I discovered that I had close to 100 haters at work. I was clueless. For four years, I joined a building committee, designers and construction team to design and build a 108,000 square foot science building designed by HOK. This new facility has won two national design awards and it the private of a southern community college. Then how did I gather a following of haters? Is is jealousy or ignorance? Or am I riding too high on my horse? Do I think I have arrived? The answer to the later is no. I can not answer nor will I take time to answer my critics. Each day when I arrive on campus, I will put in 100% plus for students.

Cyberspace Connections

For a period, I did my best to stay away from social networks. Besides, there is nothing better than interacting with people or dinner or a backyard barbeque on a July or October evening. Today, I have spent a couple of hours following people on Twitter. Low and behold, people began to follow me. So what is all of this about? Are we so much into cyberspace that we are not taking time out to create and enrich face-to-face relationships? No, social networks only add another dimension to getting to know people. We should, however, allow cyberspace to become the only connection we have to humanity...that is if we can classify cyberspace as a connect.

Social Networks

A year ago, I would have cared less about social networks. Honestly, I signed up for a Facebook account and never used it. When I finally signed on, one of my former colleagues had located me. For eight months, I would weave in and out of Facebook. My twitter account was treated the same way. Then one day, I said, "why not". This week Twitter became one of my favorite networks. Exactly six days ago, I only had one follower on Twitter, today, I have 54 and I am following 456. Although these are electronic social networks and will never replace that human factor, they do allow you to stay in tune and connect to individuals. My blog account is by far private. At this point, it is a great outlet for me. An electron journal. Still it will never replace a paper journal. Facebook are for close friends and family. Twitter allows me to broaden my scope. What can I sayl..there are some advantages to technology.

Blue Monday

Today is one of those "Blue Mondays". In the past, I tried to finger out what was wrong and made several attempts to change my mood. Today, I'm just riding the tide. This too will pass. Signing off...

Jobs

I have had six jobs that I would classify as signicant during my career. In my 20's, I taught business courses at an area independent school district. As a twenty-plus, I decided to leave education and try the private sector. When jobs were not available in this sector, I was hired as an Assistant Training Director at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Today, I realize what an awesome career opporunity I had at that time. Unfortnately, I left the Federal Reserve Bank becuase I was not promoted. Fifty-fifty hind sight shows me that I was immature and impatient. After leaving the Federal Reserve Bank, I wonder and struggle finding an appropriate position. In 1981, I began a career at the Dallas County Community College District on soft money and adjunct positions. Two years later, I was blessed to obtain a position as a special programs instructor at the Job Training Center/El Centro College.

Twilight

I found out about Twilight during the Forensic Science Third Annual Conference. Don Jacobs presented Youtube clips of the New York Times best seller and movie as what happens when teenagers are out of control. He basically presented his lecture on Twilight along with other serial killer theories. After listening to him, I knew that I would not want to view see this movie nor read any vampire books. Several times, I saw Twilight appear on cable channels previews passed over it. Then on one of my days off, I decided to watch the movie and judge it for myself. Well, I viewed the movie several times and decided to purchase the second book in the sage, New Moon. I acutally fell in love with this book and wonder why it drew my attention into the lives of vampires and werewolves Shamefully, I threw the book away. This act did not prevent me from thinking about Edward and Bella over and over again. I purchased another paper back and later purchased the Twilight hardback saga from Ama...
